Life is nice when you're Cozie

Ups and Downs

I keep having these half good, half bad days.  It’s pretty weird.  So let me just outline this all for you.

Some Background

We were scheduled to have the previous homeowners of our
property (Hereafter “Bartletts”) and their
visiting relatives from Sweden
(Hereafter “Jarvis”) on Tuesday, October the 3rd.  We planned a barbecue with steak, hamburgers,
hot dogs, and a plethora of other All American Junk.

On with the story.

Monday, October 2nd
5:00 PM

I am informed that the Bartlett’s
are coming over and I finally realize why everyone’s been doing yard work for
the last 3 days.  Family heads out for
Sam’s Club which is about 45 minutes to an hour away.  On our way we notice two mailmen with various
mail pieces in their teeth and having
trouble reaching the mailboxes.
Remember, it’s somewhere around 5PM and they are still delivering.  We laughed, and drove on.

Approximately 5:45 PM

Family arrives at Sam’s and waits by the door while dad digs
around in his wallet looking for his card.
The guy finally said to just go ahead because we couldn’t buy anything
without it.  He snickered as we
advanced.   Then dad declared, “I gave it
to COIE!”  Yes, I was the guilty
felon.  I never gave it back after
getting my tires rotated a couple weeks ago.

Approximately 6:30 PM

Family is leaving Sam’s and heading for home.

7:15 PM

We pass above mentioned mailmen just finishing the street
they were on when we left.  Sad, eh?

8:00 PM

cancel the barbecue.

Tuesday, October the
3rd. 9:00 AM

call, and plan on coming after all.  We
moved the time to 3 instead of 2 and I started helping dad prepare a marinade
for steaks.  I am then sent to the store
for imperative items (hot dog buns, ice cream, coffee, lemon juice).  At Wal-Mart, I find everything I need except
lemon juice and walk through all the aisles about 3 times before finding it in
the juice section (Doi!).

11:00 AM

I am home and mom sends me to my aunt’s house (down the
street) to pick up a table.  I take PAUL (who has started
blogging again) with me.  We got to his
house, loaded the table and started for home.
Now there is a particular house on that road that I drive by very slowly
because they have a little boy and I wouldn’t want to have an accident.  So right when I am passing there house at
about 15-20 mph, a little tiny puppy just pops out of the weeds and underneath
my tire.  It’s the first thing I’ve hit
besides butterflies, and it just happens to be someone’s new pet.  And I hit it twice.  I asked Paul, “What do I do?  Stop and get out?” He told me, “Yeah, duh!”
and we got out.  The lady who lived there
came out instantly with her little boy and started to cry.  She asked Paul to move him off the road and
said they knew he was going to end up getting hit because he was always on the road.  I felt awful, and we went home a few minutes
later. Ugh.

3:00 PM

Company arrives and we have a great time.  The Swede’s were super cool and we loved to
hear them talk.  The food was great
too.  😉
Our company left at 6, saying “It was lovely to meet you all!”

of Bo and my Dad (who knows how to do everything) putting siding up around our
screened patio before the company could arrive and see all the holes that were
in it)

Now a quick run down of other news:

Wednesday: I started Karate.

Thursday: Nothing! (that I can remember anyways)

Friday: Got my Tennessee
license after living here for a year (supposed to have it in 30-60 days).  Good thing too, because I was beginning to
feel like an illegal alien.  I also went
to BRIANA’s 17th
birthday party.

Saturday: Got up at 4 AM and drove to Fall Creek Falls to man the booth for TOS.  That was fun, only we were an hour early due
to an unexpected time zone change, and we didn’t get Starbucks.

Sunday: Visited a church in the Suarezes absence, went to an
“Old Time Thing” as Ryann calls it, and went to the Burggraf’s house.  They are so great.  Mrs. Burggraf is the type of person that
everyone can’t help but love, and she gets so excited over people’s
accomplishments.  As mom put it, “I want
to be a Mrs. Burggraf when I grow up.”

Wowee!  That was long.

  1. Marmite Monster

    Hey Coie,

Thanks for the note on my blog! I think Marmite will make all your days GOOD days! In the interest of USA/UK relations, I think you need to at least try it. If I’m in a good mood, I’ll also try to pack some Cadbury’s chocolate for you too.

  2. Sacrelige!

“We planned a barbecue with steak, hamburgers, hot dogs, and a plethora of other All American Junk.”

How can you say that!?! Living here in Japan I’ve been deprived of the wondeful, glorious goodness of tender, flavorful steaks, thick, juicy burgers and plump hot dogs. What I wouldn’t give for that “junk”. Be thankful. You don’t know how terrible it is to miss that stuff and know that you’ve got another two months before you get to go home and eat real food that doesn’t involve, rice, fish or octopus tentacles.

  3. WOW!

I couldn’t read it all… not enough blog time! LOL ! I hope to hear from you soon! Happy Fall! Nai haryuvalyë melwa rë (May you have a lovely day)

  4. I read it all –

As I have nothing against long blog posts. 😉

Everyone appears to be busy right now. So much to do, so little time!

  6. You poor, poor girl!

We may just very well be in the same alternate universe at times! Wow, so similar…

Anyhooo, I pick the word ‘adventure’ for your life at this point in time. There’s never a dull moment and there’s always something to do! Even in Tennessee!

I am a second born, but b/c of the disfunction, must take the role of ‘sane and in charge one’ to help things stay, well…sane!

My dd is starting her new blog soon. She’ll need some friends so I’ll stop back and let you know what the name of it is.

    Traci 🙂

P.S.The MN Wild creamed the Nashville Predators last Saturday, if you’re in to hockey. Being in karate now, maybe it’s not GROOVY enough for you?! 😉

Hey! I just read your pronunciation guide and learned I’ve been saying your name WRONG – but you probably get that a lot. I thought it rhymed with ‘boy’ but now I get it. Sorry about that. So now that I know how to say it, I think it’s really cool. Actually, I thought it was cool before, but I like it better how you say it. Karen
