Life is nice when you're Cozie

My Jesus

Usually, when people post lyrics to a song on their blog, I don't really read it. This one
is worth reading. I heard this song last year when mom and I went to Denver and
I love it. It's called My Jesus and it's by Todd Agnew. I've italicized the parts
that really stand out to me because of the truthfulness in it.

My Jesus
Which Jesus do you follow Which Jesus do you serve
If Ephesians says to imitate Christ,
Why do you look so much like the world
My Jesus bled and died He spent His time with thieves and liars
He loved the poor and accosted the arrogant
So which one do you want to be

Blessed are the poor in spirit, or bless me with the wealth of this land
Blessed are they that hunger and thirst for righteousness
Or do we ache for another taste of this world of shifting sands
'Cause My Jesus bled and died for my sins
He spent His time with thieves and sluts and liars
He loved the poor and accosted the comfortable
So which one do you want to be

Who is this that You follow
This picture of the American dream
If Jesus was here would you walk right by on the other side
Or fall down and worship at His holy feet

Pretty blue eyes and curly brown hair and a clear complexion
Is how you see Him as He dies for Your sins
But the Word says He was battered and scarred
Or did you miss that part
Sometimes I doubt we’d recognize Him
My Jesus bled and died He spent His time with thieves and the least
of these
He loved the poor and accosted the comfortable
So which one do you want to be

'Cause My Jesus would never be accepted in my church
The blood and dirt on His feet might stain the carpet
But He reaches for the hurting and despises the proud
I think He’d prefer Beale St. to the stained glass crowd
But I know that He can hear me if I cry out loud
I want to be like my Jesus
I want to be like my Jesus
I want to be like my Jesus
I want to be like my Jesus

Not a posterchild for American prosperity, but like my Jesus
You see I’m tired of living for success and popularity
I want to be like my Jesus but I’m not sure what that means
to be like You Jesus Cause You said to live like You,
love like You but then You died for me
Can I be like You Jesus?
I want to be like you Jesus
I want to be like my Jesus

I sort of like you a whole bunch. stop turning 17 and just stay at home with momsie forever because if you leave I will be very sad. Ryann isn’t trying to turn 17. Neither is Emmiko. Just think about it, ok? please? Sixteen is a good age. You should at least give it another three or four years.

    Coie,

Thanks for the sweet offer. If I can’t figure it out I will take you up on it.

You are funny, I am sorry the two best things about the country have their drawbacks but I am still quite happy at your blessing and not the least bit jealous, really.

I love it when you update your picture. This one will take some gettign used to.

I’ve never heard that song but it holds much truth. Thanks for sharing it.

Countdown to the BIG 17! TWO DAYS AWAY UNTIL CHEESCAKE! I decided I want my kiddos to make me a dirt cake for my birthday. It has oreo cookies and some weird (gummy) worms that I know they will love. I got the recipe somewhere on HSB. yum- i can hardly wait. I’ll start my countdown, maybe next week. I am not in a really big hurry to get older. fasddfhasdhfasdkjasfd

If you go here and then click archives and choose Jan. 22 goto about 40 minutes and you can see Todd sing this song at Harvest.

  9. THAT…

is one of my new favorite songs. I LOVE Tod Agnew. But would you believe I listened to that CD (Reflection of Something) a dozen times (it’s my workout CD) before I ever REALLY listened to that particular song? Weird. I guess the music just didn’t “grab” me. I really like his rocky/bluesy stuff. But, boy, those words are POWERFUL! I like that guy!
