Sweet and Sour Chicken, Anyone?

Well, this has been a crazy week.  Emmiko had been running a temperature between 100 – 103 degrees for a week and a half and Bo suddenly discovered a lump in his inner thigh.  Mom took Bo to the doctor on Tuesday, who did not like the look of things, and scheduled him to see a surgeon the next day.  On Wednesday she took him to the surgeon, who also did not like it and scheduled an appointment for Friday morning (today) to take it out immediately.  Then she took Emmiko to the doctor and we found out that she had a terrible case of strep throat.  She didn’t even realize she had a sore throat.

So the surgery was this morning.  Mom and I took him in at 6, where the volunteer was a little too chipper for the time of day (I appreciated his attitude, actually).  Then they took Bo back and drugged him up.  And I thought he was hilarious in every day situations. We were laughing as quietly as possible as he fell in and out of sanity.  It was especially fun to mess with his mind when he was already confused.  And the nurses loved him.  He’s a charmer.

Anyways, all went well and he was out of surgery in a little over an hour.  The “tumor” does not look cancerous and the doctor is confident that everything is fine.  They are sending it off for testing to see what caused it, since it seems to have been due to an infection.  I won’t directly post the picture of it, because it might ruin any plans you had for Chinese (it looks just like sweet and sour chicken), but I’ll still give you a link to the picture.  [Click here to spoil your appetite!]

Thank you to all our wonderful friends that were praying for Bo!

  1. Oh, thank the Lord! That is wonderful news about Bo and trusting that the results will be as expected.
And that tumor thingy was quite…um….well, it kind of reminded me of when our dog had puppies last year…but had them way too early. That was lovely. Glad they got it out! 🙂
I’ll be continuing to pray for you all!
    love,

  3. I’m SOOOOOO glad that everything looks good… but MAN is that thing gross. I totally shouldn’t have clicked on it. I already feel nauseous today for some reason.

  4. I should not have clicked on that picture but I can’t believe they let you take a picture of it.

  5. Thanks for the detailed update, Coie! Praying that Emmiko recovers quickly. I’m so glad that things are looking good for Bo :).

  6. Kelley… is that not the grossest thing you’ve ever seen? and we actually did not take the picture, the dr was kind enough to get it for us because Bobo specifically requested to see it when he was entirely doped up.

  7. I am so thankful that it went well with Bo! I also can’t belive I clicked on that pic. YUCK.

Thankfully I have a short memory.

    Love you all!

  8. I had just clicked on the picture when my daughter came up, took one look at it, and said, “Yum, Yum!” What is it! I thought it was pretty funny, and I am especially glad that it looks o.k!!

  9. Oh my, that was a little icky but not as bad as the GRAPEFRUIT sized tumor that was removed from my sister several years ago! She didn’t even know she had it until she got kidney stones and they saw it in an ultrasound.

I am so thankful that the results came back well for Bo!!!
